Chandigarh, January 5: Punjab Engineering College (PEC) may follow Panjab University’s lead and admit only to students with at least 60 per cent in Class XII Board examinations. The Punjab Engineering College’s PEC) Board of Governors is likely to consider the proposal in its meeting scheduled for this Friday.

Panjab University (PU), which runs University Institute of Engineering and Technology with six distinct branches of engineering, and Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology, Sector-26, approved the ‘first-class decision’ in their Senate meeting last month. The proposal was forwarded by PU’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology after the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development forwarded a similar proposal for implementation in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)
