Well, I always thought I was free!
but why do I feel something’s wrong?
I guess I should be celebrating,
But why on my lips, is there no song?

The dawn of yet another morning,
commemorating a tryst with destiny,
is different from any other,
maybe, you don’t understand what is liberty.

I know not if I’m enslaved or not,
I have no clue what lies in my power,
but I wait, to claim what belongs to me,
in search of some decisive hour.

Why are you content with what there is,
why don’t you struggle against the decree?
You need to realize why you’re still shackled,
you need to seize the key!

Why should I know what freedom is,
I’ve never had to be a slave,
What can I say to you,
for unseen pleasures you crave.

Freedom is to fight the evils that bind you,
evils that are strong indeed,
the bars are strong, tempered steel,
but you must break them, even though you bleed.

Note: I know this one is rather cryptic. But, I'd appreciate if you could write what you interpret it as.

what I gather from what u have written is:
the main theme is that yes, we are free and we are celebrating but are we really???
Is the freedom from the British rule - the only freedon.. it was the passion of the revolutionaries then... and their way of interpreting freedom..
but to us - each and every one of us - the freedom may have different meanings... freedom from the things we have become slave to and which are like barriers - barriers which we want to break... to get OUr freedom..
