I was watching the Fourth Umpire – the DD program during break b/w innings.
I was surprised to see that most of the callers who called the sets to ask questions had only 1 query – Why is sachin not being dropped when ganguly was dropped!!!
And not surprisingly, most of them were Bengalis. To add to it after the match at Eden Gardens, 1 indian cricketer remarked,”thank god, we are going back to India tomorrow”. Moreover I heard that some bodies had urged pple to NOT buy tickets for the ODI at Kolkata. It was only after ganguly was included in the Test Squad that the ticket sale picked up.
So I was just curious, what is with the dropping of Ganguly that has made the cricket crazy pple of Bengal, act in such a behavior so anti – India and should I say Anti – Cricket.
To me, it was more of the attitude problem of ganguly which led him to be dropped. Infact, it was injury which made him sit out and as the team was performing good so he was not taken back into team. What goes on behind the scenes, we don’t know, but that is what we get as an outsider. So what has irked the Bengalis so much.. I have some Bengali friends – and as soon as the topic of ganguly comes, they are almost ready to fight!! I find that very strange!!!

buddy boy...I'm no Bengali...but nevertheless a Ganguly supporter. And as far as the Kolkata crowd is concerned, I'm sure had a similar scene happened in Punjab with say Yuvraj, the entire state would've been up in arms too... moreover, Chappell's finger and the anti-India comments by the cricketer you named would only have provoked the people further...

that's one point i missed out..
I dont agree that had yuvi been dropped, punjabis would have gone up in arms.. he was in fact dropped last year i guess... nothing happened.. and as a matter of fact nothing should happen..
and i beleive, what happened in kolkata was a extreme over reaction...

I completely agree with you Sunny.

Why don't people realise that Ganguly is going through a very lean patch.
He is severly out of form & needs to spend more time in the first class circuit.

Now that aside, I also strongly disapprove of Chappell's gesture. The crowd may acted in an immature manner & the last thing we wanted was his reaction, and that too the middle finger.

Lets hope the BCCI finds an end to this drama soon.

for last few weeks all that has been going around can be forgotten as a bad dream.Dada is back he has chance let him prove his worth.
But still i am a big critic of him.
The difference between Aussies n indians is that they can drop S.Waugh(A much better player tham dada) n still get youngsters to perform well and what indians do - On Win they are god
- On loss they are incarnation of devil.

need a bit of maturity - we indians

Why does this always happen.... specially when Laxman is there with Ganguly

Muralitharan to Laxman, out Laxman Run Out!! Laxman turns it to square leg, wanted a single, Saurav responds and later on sends him back, it was a little too late, Laxman was out by a long way! VVS Laxman run out (J Mubarak/K Sangakkara) 5(43) 4s-1 6s-0
